The time has come for another co-ed slowpitch softball season. For me, that means finding enough people for the team, collecting money, and purchasing our jerseys. This year we are using Kim’s excellent name “Pitches Be Loco.” Please check out our Facebook page!
Softball is a great sport that allows us all to hang out, drink beer, and pretend that we’re in high school again, which I love. I was never much of an athlete, but we practice a lot, and I’ve reached the point where I can make a few good plays. I still haven’t hit one over the fence, but I did buy a new bat today, so maybe this is the year.
Anyhow, I am very excited about playing in the summer season, and the new faces we’ve added to the team, as well as reconnecting with some old friends I have lost touch with over the winter. There’s nothing like cranking one over the pitcher’s head and hustling to second base, or catching a ball that I didn’t think I had a chance at but still somehow ends up in my glove. It’s a good lesson. Sometimes the things we don’t think we’re any good at are really the things where we excel because of our passion.
